Manhattan, NY – Today, UFCW Local Unions 1, 338, 342, and 1500, who represent essential grocery workers throughout New York, released a statement following coordinated action held today outside of the Manhattan Wegmans location ahead of the holiday season.
UFCW Locals 1, 338, 342, and 1500 released the following statement:
“This holiday season, what better gift could Wegmans workers receive than the ability to have a voice on the job? This is a union town and it is high time that Wegmans workers here in the city, who help keep shelves stocked and customers served during one of the busiest and most profitable times of the year, get the respect that they have earned and deserve.
“The UFCW is calling on Wegmans to give the gift of neutrality so that their workers can organize freely and without fear of corporate intimidation or retaliation. There’s no need to be a grinch this season, solidarity and respect are what the holidays are truly about.”
