On August 24, registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) at Eagleview Health and Rehabilitation in Elmer, N.J., joined UFCW Local 152 for a better life.
The 20 workers joined our union family because they wanted same wages, benefits and protections as their unionized colleagues at the facility. In 2011, UFCW Local 152 organized the certified nursing assistants, dietary, housekeeping, maintenance, activity aides, and receptionists at Eagleview Health and Rehabilitation. However, the RNs and LPNs were not included in the unit at that time.
In early spring 2022, Eagleview was sold. Because they had a union contract, our current union members were protected and able to keep or bargain over any changes the new owners wanted. The LPNs and RNs decided it was time for union representation. As new members of our union family, they are looking forward to negotiating their first union contract.
