Food Service Workers in New Jersey Ratify a New Contract

About 20 members of UFCW Local 152 who work for Chartwells School Dining Services in New Jersey ratified a new contract on June 10. Chartwells School Dining Services specializes in providing food services to schools across the United States, and these workers prepare and serve meals to students at the Camden County Technical Schools in Pennsauken and Sicklerville.

The five-year contract includes a strong initial general wage increase from 3.5 to 4.75 percent depending on seniority, in addition to annual increases for the life of the contract. The contract also includes the addition of three personal days and Juneteenth as a paid holiday. In addition, the contract boosts uniform and equipment allotment from three sets of shirts and aprons to five sets, and the safety shoe reimbursement was increased to $50 per year.
