Over 100 members of UFCW Local 1189 who work at Green Thumb Industries (GTI) and RISE dispensaries at seven locations throughout Minnesota ratified their first union contract on May 8.

These workers joined our union family in March of 2023 because they were concerned about insufficient hours and wages, as well as issues revolving around seniority and promotions, and their first contract addresses those issues.

The three-year contract, which covers both retail and production workers, includes wage increases of up to 18 percent over the life of the agreement. The contract also includes protections around respect and safety, job security, and work-life balance. In addition, the contract includes anti-harassment and discrimination protections, as well as SPUR leave.

“We are proud of our members at GTI RISE for standing together to improve their workplace and for working hard to keep a high standard for Minnesota cannabis jobs,” said UFCW Local 1189 President Jim Gleb.
