We’re Building a Better Sephora with a Union!
Sephora is a powerhouse in the beauty industry, with hundreds of stores across the country and a loyal customer base in the millions. It should be a leader not just in beauty, but in how it treats its employees. Despite its commitment to a culture of inclusion, belonging, and “a welcoming beauty shopping experience for all,” we know Sephora can do far more to support the employees who make it all happen.
That’s why we’re coming together at Sephora to start a union. Through our union, we can build a future where our work is truly valued and where respect and inclusion aren’t just buzzwords – they’re a reality. From the beauty advisors to cashiers to the operations teams, it’s time we stand up for our needs as workers and secure what we need to thrive on the job.
If you work at Sephora and want to help us build a better and more inclusive company, fill out the form below. You can tell us about what’s happening at your store, chat with a UFCW union organizer about how to get started, and join the glow up movement.

Why We’re Unionizing at Sephora
Having a union is all about securing a voice on the job. Without a union, Sephora can change store policy as much as they want since we don’t have a guaranteed standard for how we’re treated. This unpredictability can make it much harder for us to do our best work every time we clock in.
But with a union, we get a real say in what matters to us. We can advocate for ALL the changes and policies we need to turn our jobs into secure, sustainable careers. Read more about the kinds of changes we’re fighting for below.
What We’re Fighting For at Sephora:
In order to thrive on the job and build great careers at Sephora, we need to implement better policies and secure some key protections, including:
Consistent Schedules and Hours
Current Sephora policies make it difficult for us to work as many hours as we’d like while also maintaining a good work-life balance. This inconsistency impacts our personal lives and our ability to build a great career at Sephora.
Living Wages
Sephora likes to remind us how profitable they are, and we deserve a fair cut for everything we do to bring in this profit. With our union, we’re fighting for wages that reflect our expertise and help us live comfortably in our communities – where the cost of living is constantly on the rise.
Fair Workplace Standards
Sephora stores are fast-paced and demanding work environments, and every Sephora worker deserves to feel supported equally on the job. That’s why we’re coming together to fight for written policies that address discrimination, favoritism, and unfair termination in our stores.
Right now, we experience lots of favoritism in our stores. Plus, we’ve also noticed that Sephora sometimes terminates people without clear cause or justification. This is unacceptable, so we’re fighting for written policies that level the playing field and help us protect our careers in the long run.

Equipment to Do Our Best Work
Our customers come to Sephora for expert advice on makeup knowledge and application, but we don’t always receive the training or supplies we need to deliver it. That’s why we’re using our union to demand better access to the training, makeup, and other essential products we need to truly empower our customers!
Reliable Working Conditions Under a Union Contract
Sephora has a track record of implementing sudden changes, and too many employees are unhappy with the “flex” positions that unceremoniously rob us of our benefits! Not only are these changes frustrating – they also don’t align with the company’s values or our goals for the Sephora customer experience. This kind of inconsistency can make it hard for us to build a career at Sephora, so we’re unionizing to protect our access to the benefits we deserve and make our day-to-day workflow more predictable.

A Voice in How Our Stores Are Run
We are the backbone of Sephora stores across the country. We deserve a say in how our stores are run, so we’re coming together to establish a powerful collective voice that will help us stand up for our needs and rights as workers.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Sephora Union
Where is the Sephora Union right now?
Right now, workers at H&M, Lush, and Sephora are coming together to start unions at their companies. We’ve already gotten our union off the ground at Lush and H&M, and now, we’re talking with our coworkers at Sephora so we can do the same! We’re in touch with more and more Sephora staff every month, and we’re excited about the power we’re building through these conversations.
Why do Sephora workers need a union?
At Sephora, we work hard to serve our customers and keep our stores running smoothly. Our work is fast-paced and it can be challenging, especially when the company changes store policy or fails to provide us with the equipment we need to thrive.
But, having a union can help us secure the policies and protections we need to do our best work. With a union, we can stand up for the specific changes we’d like to see and protect our rights as workers!

You’re actually allowed to talk about many things on the job, including your overall working conditions and what you want to see changed at your store.
Still, it’s always important to be strategic when you’re talking about a union with your coworkers. A UFCW union organizer can help you have safe and calculated conversations when you’re thinking about starting a union at your Sephora store.
