Members of UFCW Local 152 who work at the MPX/iAnthus cannabis grow facility in Pleasantville, N.J., recently ratified their first union contract. Members at the facility grow and process cannabis and oversee the entire production process.
The three-year agreement includes salary increases and reductions in health care costs for the workers at the cultivation site.
UFCW Local 152’s Cannabis Division has experienced steady growth in the past few years as part of a coordinated effort to meet workers in the industry and help them achieve their goals.
“These workers are excited about the new agreement and appreciate having a voice on the job and the security that comes with a union contract,” said UFCW Local 152 Director of Cannabis Peter White.
“We’re proud to have these cannabis workers as part of Local 152, and the implementation of their first union contract is something to celebrate,” said UFCW Local 152 President Dan Ross, Jr.
This ratification marks the second cannabis division contract for UFCW Local 152. In the last two years, UFCW Local 152 has seen tremendous growth in the cannabis division and has organized workers at the MPX/iAnthus dispensary in Atlantic City; Columbia Care/The Cannabist in Vineland; Design 710 in Atlantic City; and The Botanist in Egg Harbor Township and Atlantic City, which became the local’s first unionized cannabis facility with the ratification of their first contract.
