UFCW Members Mobilize Votes for Strong Supporter of Workers Rights Gov. Andy Beshear
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), which represents 1.2 million essential workers in grocery, meatpacking, retail, and other essential industries across North America, released the following statement in response to Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear’s successful reelection bid.
UFCW International President Marc Perrone released the following statement:
“Our hard-working members and organizers helped send a clear message to elected officials today by casting their votes for Governor Andy Beshear who has demonstrated his strong support for workers’ rights and the labor movement.”
This critical victory could not have happened without the hard work and solidarity of our members across the commonwealth. Today proves that when workers stand together and make their voices heard, whether at the ballot box or on the shop floor, they win.
While we celebrate this much-deserved victory, the work will continue. We will dedicate ourselves to pushing leaders in both parties to address the everyday issues facing our members, their families, and our communities, while fighting to ensure all workers receive the secure future they deserve.”
