WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), which represents 1.3 million workers in grocery stores, meatpacking plants, and other essential industries across North America, celebrated the confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, one of our nation’s brightest legal leaders, to the U.S. Supreme Court.
UFCW International President Marc Perrone released the following statement:
“Today, history was made with the confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court, the first Black woman to serve on our nation’s highest court. One of the country’s brightest legal minds and a former public defender, Judge Jackson will bring her proven commitment to justice and fairness in our legal system to every decision she will play a role in.
“The Supreme Court will continue to confront questions that impact the rights, livelihoods, and safety of all hard-working families across the country. With soon-to-be Justice Jackson, they can be assured that there are voices on the Court who will always understand and respect their concerns and needs.”
